क्वचित् हः - ९. 9. मुक्ताफलम् - मोत्ताहलं ( 'स्तौ' p. 65 ) ।
कचिदुभावपि - i. g. सफलम् - सभलं - सहलं । शेफालिका - सेभालिआ - सेहालिआ । शफरी — सभरी सहरी । गुफति-गुभइ – गुहइ ।
But पुष्पम् - पुष्पं ( Here फु is conjunct ) । फणी ( Here फू begins the word. Hema. has 'चिट्ठइ फणी' ) । गुम्फति — गुम्फइ ( Here फू does not follow a vowel)
तु मयूरचतुर्थ चतुर्वार ॥ १ । ३ । ५ ॥ p. 71–
In मयूर and other words mentioned in the Sûtra, the initial vowel together with the following syllable is optionally changed to ओ-

मयूरः - मोरो - मऊरो I चतुर्थ: - चोत्थो - चउत्थो — चोट्ठो - चउट्ठो ('स्त्यान चतुर्थे च तु ठः' p. 32 ) । चतुर्वारः - चोव्वारो― चउव्वारो । चतुर्दशचोद्दह - चउद्दह । चतुर्दशी— चोदसी - चउद्दसी । चतुर्गुणः -- चोग्गुणोचउग्गुणो । मयूखः - मोहो - मऊहो । उलूखलम् — उलूहलं – ओहलं । सुकुमारः --- सोमालो - सुउमालो ( It is a हरिद्रादि, 'हरिद्रादौ ' p. 31 ) ( सोमारो - समारो - सुउमारो. It is a मुकुलादि, 'मुकुलादौ' p. 64 ) । उदूखल : - ओहलो - उऊहलो । लवणम् – लोणं – लअणं । कुतूहलम् — कोहल —-कुऊहलं— कोउहलं — कोहलं. Vide the next Satra )। हौत्कुतूहले ॥ १ । २ । ६५ ।। p. 72 –
In कुतूहल, उ is optionally changed to ओ and when it is so changed, ऊ is shortened—
कुतूहलं — कोउहलं ( It is a तैलादि and therefore लू is doubled 'तैलादौ ' p. 48 ) - कोहलं ।
निषण्ण उमः ॥ १ । ३ । ६ ।। p. 72 -
In fq, the initial vowel with the following syllable is optionally changed to उम
निषण्णः - णुमण्णो - णिसण्णो ।
